Los Angeles Law Firm Settles Civil Fraud Case Filed Against It By Former Client

Prepared "pro se" civil fraud complaint against the Los Angeles law firm of SuImeyer, Kupetz, Baumann & Rothman on behalf of one of its former clients. While representing the former client in an adversary proceeding by a Chapter 7 trustee, the Sulmeyer, Kupetz firm failed to disclose that it was simultaneously representing the trustee in other litigation. This created an undisclosed conflict of interest. Sulmeyer, Kupetz settled the case by refunding all of the substantial legal fees paid in connection with the case.

Contractor Wins $456,000 Civil Judgment, Then Los Angeles County Sheriff Executes $226,000 Bank Levy

Prepared "pro se" breach of contract complaint in the Los Angeles County Superior Court (Burbank) against a developer/buyer that backed out of a real estate purchase agreement and obtained a judgment for $456,000. Then followed it up with a $226,000 bank levy.

Glendale Law Firm Settles Legal Malpractice Action for $350,000

After paying over $300,000 in legal fees to a law firm in Glendale, California for prosecuting litigation against Sanwa Bank and losing on a motion for summary judgment, the client was then asked to pay the firm an additional $25,000 to appeal the judgment. The client paid another $25,000 to the law firm for a frivolous appeal, which he also lost. He then called Bohl and asked him to research the filing of a legal malpractice action and to prepare the complaint for his new lawyer, which Bohl did. Six months later, the client settled the case for $350,000.
